A. General Questions

  1. Do I have to pay an application, processing, interviewing or training fee?

    No, UNRWA does not charge a fee at any stage of the recruitment process (application, interview meeting, processing, training or any other fees). The Agency does not concern itself with information on candidate's bank accounts/finances.

  2. What is a Personal History Profile (PHP)?

    A Personal History Profile (PHP) is a special online resume, consisting of questions about you. It includes General Information, Address, Relatives, Education, Employment, Languages and References sections. It is used to evaluate your suitability for a vacancy, as well as for administrative purposes in case you are selected to work with UNRWA.

  3. What are the steps in the recruitment process? How can I know the status of my application?

    Candidates who apply on-line will receive an automatic reply informing the applicant that his/her application was received successfully. Candidates will be contacted should they be shortlisted for interview. At all times, candidates may view the status of the vacancies they have applied for. These are listed under “Applicant History” that appears on the home page after the applicant logged on.

  4. What if I forget my Password?

    On the home page, click on "Forgot your Password". Enter your email address and press  Send Password”. A new auto-generated password will be sent to your email account. You  may change the password generated by the system after you have logged on.

  5. Can I update my User Account after I have registered? 

    Yes. Click on the options on the left-hand side menu. Update your information and press  Save”.

  6. Do I need to register or login to view vacancy?

    No. You can just click on "Local Vacancies" or  "International Vacancies"  links from the home page. Please note that local posts are subject to local conditions and only applications from candidates with valid residence and work permits or nationals of UNRWA's area of operations (Gaza, West Bank, Jordan , Syria and Lebanon ) are eligible to apply for positions advertised on this website.

  7. Do I need to apply for a particular vacancy?

    Yes. You need to submit your Personal History Profile (PHP) for a particular vacancy to ensure that your candidacy can be evaluated against the post in which you are interested.

  8. For how many vacancies can I apply?

    It is up to each candidate to review the responsibilities, competencies and qualifications required for a particular vacancy, before making a decision to apply for an advertised post.

  9. Can I submit a general application?

    No. We do not consider speculative applications. Only applications for advertised vacancies would be considered.

  10. Is my Personal History Profile (PHP) information kept confidential?

    Yes. Private information provided to the Agency on this site will not be shared with any outside organization without the user's express permission and will not be used for any other purpose. 

  11. Do I have to answer all the Personal History Profile (PHP) questions in one session?

    No. You can save the information you entered and return to it at a later time. To finish your Personal History Profile (PHP) log in using your registered User Name and Password.  Remember to save every 20 minutes or you will be logged-out and lose the inputted information

  12. Do I have to fill out a new Personal History Profile (PHP), if I wish to apply for another vacancy?

    No. Your Personal History Profile (PHP) is saved. Once it is completed, you can use it to apply for another vacancy.

  13. Can I update my Personal History Profile (PHP) to apply for a new vacancy?

    Yes. Whenever you apply for a vacancy, an identical copy of your current Personal History Profile (PHP) is attached to that vacancy. If you update your current Personal History Profile (PHP), the new updated profile will be attached to the next vacancy for which you apply.

B. How To...

  1. How do I apply for a vacancy?

    1. Applicants are encouraged to apply online through this system. To apply online, applicants create their own account through clicking the “Register as a new user” menu option on the home page. Applicants must use a valid email account as a User Name as the system will use this email account to contact the applicant for test and/or interview if the applicant is short-listed.

    2. Once this is done, you should log into the system and fill in your profile by completing the required sections. You can update your profile at a later time if you wish to do so.

    3. Select either “Apply Local” or “Apply International” from the main menu.

    4. Select the vacant post you want to apply for, and click the "Show" button.

    5. Click “Apply” and answer any questions that might appear.

    6. Applicants have the opportunity to apply for multiple vacant posts using their profile.

  2. How do I create or update my Personal History Profile (PHP)?

    After you register or login, “My Profile” menu will be displayed. Click on the screen link menu item from the left-hand side menu, the system will display the requested screen. Make the intended operations (add, edit or delete) and press “Save”. Answer all the required questions, especially those marked with an asterisk (*), from the  Personal Information , Dependents, Relatives, Languages, Clerical Work, Education, Schools/Training, Employment, References and General Information sections.

C. Trouble Shooting

  1. I cannot apply on-line. What is the problem?

    There may be several reasons. Please check the following: Did you complete all the required fields marked with an asterix (*)? Did you save each page before proceeding to another? Once you save a page, information on the page will be saved even if you lose the Internet connection. You can start again from where you left off. Do you have the appropriate browser setting? Please note that the following browser versions are required: 1) Internet Explorer 6.0 or higher 2) Netscape 6.0 (or higher) 3) Internet Explorer 5.5 with Service pack 2 If you are using Internet Explorer 6.0 and still cannot apply online, please go to the Internet Explorer options from the Tools main menu, then select the security tab and press on the “Default Level” button
